Patient: Shelby
Doctor: S. Robert Rozbruch

Dr. Rozbruch,
My frame came off in December 2016 and my ankle is continuing to improve. In fact, the improvement in the last three months has been dramatic. Is it typical for people to report improvement so far out? For a long time I “ran out of steps” by the middle of the day. Now I am able to go for short walks and still have “enough steps left” to make it to the end of the day. For a long time I would have one good day, followed by three bad days. Now, I literally can’t remember the last time I had a “bad ankle day.”

This is a picture of me at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain skiing with my family. May 1, marks the 5th anniversary of the day that I did not die; my son and I are going on a bike trip with our new fat bikes. I won’t be breaking any more world records or skiing on double black diamonds, but I am more grateful for my health and what I can do than I have ever been. I am aware that expertise at your level does not come without many personal sacrifices. Thank you for the work that you do.

Best, Shelby
